Defund Europol & Frontex
The digitalisation of EU violent migration policies has been possible thanks to the expansion of two key EU agencies: the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex). Both Agencies have been found guilty of human rights violations.
In close collaboration with the private sector, these two Agencies have over the years stepped up their technological capacities to surveil migrants and solidarity groups, and enforce deportations.
In this area of work, Protect Not Surveil is leading a campaign shedding light on the misuse of public funding to support the expansion of powers of these two dangerous Agencies and demanding their funding and redistribution of resources to public policies focusing on care and protections.
