The Protect Not Surveil coalition is a group of organisations, researchers, activists and more working to challenge dangerous, techno-solutionist approaches in EU legislation, policy and practice; and promoting accountability that centres the experience and perspective of directly affected communities.
Our mission is to challenge the use of digital technologies at different levels of EU policies and advocate for the ability of people to move and to seek safety and opportunity without risking harm, surveillance or discrimination.
Our Strategy
Protect Not Surveil prioritises two main strategic approaches:
Advocacy
Our EU advocacy aims at influencing legal frameworks and policymaking processes, including the implementation stages of approved laws, that further expand the digital surveillance regime based on the criminalisation and punishment of migrants and racialised people.
Movement Building
Our movement building aims at ensuring that Protect Not Surveil meaningfully serves the work of grassroots movements, in particular that of racial and migrant justice groups and migrant-led organisations.
